So I was on this site before I left for vacation and cybernaut said that there was a deal where the jakks eyeclops were selling at 30 dollars!!! ....I had to buy one as a gift.

I received the eyeclops pocket projector right before christmas - in time to give to my boy. As a backgroud, I've had my own aaxa p1 pico projector for a few months now and I love it. My son always wants to use mine to watch cartoons so I uploaded a bunch to my projector (the aaxa p1 has onboard memory) and shine it on the wall while I use the tube. He knocks out, I'm happy.
I decided to buy one for him that he could call his own - the eyeclops. It was 100 bucks when I first started shopping for it and when I saw the discount, i had my credit card in hand. Unfortunately, it was pretty much a waste.
The first thing I noticed about the eyeclops compared to my aaxa p1 is that the eyeclops looks blatantly like a toy (something to chew on). Notice the early 2000s webcam styled optical system
Secondly, theres no onboard memory, so you have to plug it in to a dvd player anyways. I don't see the point of this considering the resolution is so small that a laptop screen would blow the eyeclops away at the same size in brightness.
I looked up the specs and the eyeclops is advertised at 8-lumens (not very likely) and a 480x320 resolution. My p1, while outdated and older, still offers 12-lumens and a 640x480 resolution. It was also $200 compared to the $30 i paid for the eyeclops ($100 normally).
What i really noticed that pretty much allowed me to shrug it off when my boy would throw it and drop it is that the picture quality is TERRIBLE (even before he got a hold of it). The colors on the projection are totally out of whack and everything looks like an alien. Cartoons seem to be alright, but thats because I don't know how cartoons are supposed to look. People, on the other hand, aren't purple.

Over all, the eyeclops turned in to something my kid just throws around. I let him because I don't want him to go blind from the terrible pictures.
