Vacuums - Specifically, dysons. Is it "really" worth it?

Yes the noise is all the time. Ours used to only make noise when something was stuck too, but recently started making a constant new noise. At first I thought maybe the motor was going out because the last time I was at the vacuum repair shop the owner showed me a line of Dyson's there to get the motor repaired/replaced. But after talking with several other Dyson owner, we now believe it's probably the clutch.

Most of the models of the Dyson line don't vary by much, slightly different features or attachment packs. But they still all have the same basic internal design. Which according to the vacuum repair guy is a flawed design. The are made of mostly parts that break easily.

I want FH's vacuum.

I always like to think I am not really cleaning 'cause I never actually have to see the vac.

Good luck in your Dyson search.
Thanks all for contributing to this thread. Lots to read in this forum but I like it.

I have had an Oreck for about five years. I absolutely love it! I just recently had to replace the roller bar, but no big deal. Bought one on Ebay and replaced it ($15). The only pain is having to buy the bags for it, because they have to be bought at an Oreck store.

Love to be able to carry my vacuum one handed up the stairs though. It's extremely light weight!

I accept with information:
In regards to the loud noise, it is all the time? I have the same Dyson and it just started making a loud noise, when I use it on the carpet setting on a hard floor or really low pile rug. It use to only make this sound if something got stuck while I vacuumed.
